Certified Level II Thermographer

Job Description

SI Testing, a pioneer in the field of preventive maintenance and electrical testing for over 30 years, is actively seeking a skilled and dedicated Infrared Field Service Technician to join our team. This crucial role will be based in Northern California. Work will be throughout all of Northern California with some out-of-area or state projects.

In this role, you’ll ensure the reliability and safety of electrical systems for a diverse clientele from office buildings to data centers, retail, entertainment, apartments, and stadiums. Key responsibilities include infrared scanning, preventive maintenance on low and medium-voltage switchgear, and emergency systems. You will also perform installation, troubleshooting, and repairs of switchgear, automatic transfer switches, and control systems at various customer locations.

Location: Northern California. Work will be throughout all of Northern California with some out-of-area or state projects.

Your Pay: $100,000.00 – $175,000.00 per year (Dependent on experience)

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct infrared scanning, testing, and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems.
  • Execute tests on instrument transformers, power transformers, troubleshoot automatic transfer switches, and test low and medium-voltage circuit breakers and related distribution equipment.
  • Manage and operate tools, test equipment and electrical equipment; involves removing and reinstalling covers on electrical equipment, setting up test equipment, and managing related gear.
  • Ensure timely completion of preventative maintenance activities for assigned projects, meeting customer specifications and deadlines.
  • Foster and maintain excellent relationships with customers on and off the job site.
  • Efficiently track and submit detailed project reports within required timelines.
  • Provide support for technical inquiries from customers.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including quality, health, and safety guidelines.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing, & repairing circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and similar equipment.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic understanding and ability to interpret detailed electrical schematics & drawings.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to work effectively in both independent and team settings.
  • Proficiency in email, internet use, data entry, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) is essential.
  • Infrared Thermographer/NETA/NICET Training (ETT Level II or higher) in electrical equipment testing.
  • OSHA 10/30 hour and NFPA 70-E trained.

Physical Demands & Requirements:

  • Must be able to crawl, climb, stand, and lift 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to maintain a good driving record.
  • Must be available for regular and overnight domestic travel.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, overtime, occasional weekends, holidays, and nights.
